Philharmonia Orchestra, one of the world’s leading London ensembles, presents a programme with a strong passionate character, together with its resident conductor, the young and talented Santtu-Matias Rouvali. Tchaikovsky captured the sentimental excitement of a love story in the Overture of Romeo and Juliet.

Tchaikovsky captured the sentimental excitement of a love story in the Overture of Romeo and Juliet. Rachmaninov’s Concerto No. 1 is defined by youthful freshness and temperament.

Yuja Wang has performed it all over the world receiving outstanding reviews for his ability to create dreamlike states in the more lyrical passages of the piece and to convey brilliance and energy in the more rhythmic ones. Tchaikovsky revealed in a letter to his patron Nadezhda von Meck that the introduction to his Fourth Symphony is the core of the symphony and represents the Fate. The music that follows was inspired by the struggle between dreams and reality, which we all face.
