Barcelona Obertura Spring Festival celebrates its fourth edition

Barcelona Obertura Spring Festival is the first festival organized by the three main musical institutions of the city – the Gran Teatre del Liceu, Palau de la Música Catalana and L’Auditori de Barcelona. This festival brings together great artists from the international scene, who perform spectacular concerts and operas on the three stages during the month of March.

The Liceu Opera Barcelona, the Palau de la Música Catalana and L’Auditori Barcelona presented today the fourth edition of the Barcelona Obertura Spring Festival, which will take place between March 8 and 31, organized with Barcelona Global and with the support of Barcelona City Council, through the Department of Tourism and Creative Industries and the ICUB. The Festival, a selection over time of the most outstanding proposals from the three cultural institutions, also has the collaboration of Ibercamera, Franz Schubert Philharmonia, and the Conservatory of the Liceu. An edition in which work continues with the founding objectives of positioning Barcelona as a city of culture and music.

In addition, in parallel, the Ciutat de Clàssica festival also takes place, which offers citizens free concerts in 23 spaces in the city such as historic and emblematic buildings of Barcelona that present young talents in an effort to support musicians and formations young locals who participate and for the creation of new audiences in Barcelona, ​​all the while weaving complicities between the classic and other facilities in the city. It is a fresh classical music festival, different and open to all kinds of audiences. It takes place throughout the month of March in such unexpected spaces in Barcelona as museums, art galleries, bookstores, neighborhood civic centers, or historic buildings such as Casa Batlló, Barcelona’s Model prison, or the Mies Van der Rohe pavilion.
