The best afterworks in Barcelona

After an intense day, Barcelona is a perfect setting to disconnect and socialize. Its afterworks range from clandestine cocktail bars to terraces with spectacular views and sophisticated spaces where the combination of gastronomy and signature cocktails is an art. Each neighborhood hides charming corners, where design, music and creativity align to extend the afternoon with style.

Whether in the company of co-workers or friends, these premises are just the place to enjoy a well prepared drink and unwind. Some opt for an animated atmosphere with live music; others, for the peace and quiet of a discreet space. This diversity allows you to choose according to mood and occasion. There is a common factor, quality. This is clear both in the careful curation and delivery of service. With an unmatched gastronomic and cocktail tradition, Barcelona is the perfect destination to experience afterwork as an authentic and sophisticated experience.

Character spaces

In the heart of the city, Nuts Indulgence Club (Muntaner, 147) is a select space that combines high-level cocktails with an intimate and elegant atmosphere. The perfect place for those looking for a more reserved afterwork, where the quality of cocktails and service are priority. The menu includes classics such as the Negroni or the Old Fashioned, but also their own creations such as Nuts Delight, with whisky, maple syrup and wood aroma. An elegant space to end the day in tranquility and style.

Located inside the Sir Victor hotel, MR PORTER (Roussillon, 265) is a steakhouse that merges the elegance of a luxury restaurant with the vitality of a modern lounge. In the lobby, there is a central bar where you can try cocktails influenced by the entire world. A small but special menu accompanies their combinations. They also make cocktails following specific themes; for example, they pay tribute to writers such as Jane Austen or Isabel Allende. The sophisticated atmosphere and low lights make it the perfect space to disconnect after work.

Negro-Rojo (Avinguda Diagonal, 640) is an establishment with a two gastronomic options that makes it an outstanding choice for afterwork in Barcelona. On the lower floor, Rojo houses a Japanese tavern with a sushi bar, while on the upper floor, Negro specialises in modern international cuisine. The atmosphere evolves throughout the day and into the night, especially from Thursday to Saturday. The establishment is transformed by live music and DJ sessions, creating an animated atmosphere that lasts until well into the morning.

One of the newest afterwork venues is found in the Olympic Port, Eldelmar – Hermanos Torres (Moll de Gregal, Local 3). This is the new project of the well-known brothers of Spanish gastronomy in collaboration with the Pantea Group. This restaurant focuses on Mediterranean cuisine, where the ingredients are the main protagonist. Its afterworks room is equipped with a fireplace and a cocktail menu specially designed for informal and relaxed meetings.

The award-winning cocktails

In the city, spaces that have received international awards are hidden in the most unexpected places. This is the case of Sips (Muntaner, 108), an innovative cocktail bar founded by Simone Caporale and Marc Álvarez. To break traditional barriers between the bartender and the client, they offer a close and interactive experience. Inside the premises, a new secret space, ‘Esencia’ is also hidden. Here you can enjoy a stunning cocktail tasting menu, testament to their ingenuity and recently recognized as the third best in the world according to the list ‘The World’s 50 Best Bars’.

Another of the essentials in the city is Paradiso (Rera Palau, 4), led by the cocktail maker Giacomo Giannotti. Hidden behind a pastry shop in the Born district, this speakeasy is recognized for its unique creativity. The decoration, which combines vintage and modern elements, accompanies a menu where the imagination rules. Recently, they have opened a second headquarters, in Maremagnum’s Time Out Market. Go there to avoid the queues of the original premises and yet still enjoy their cocktails.

Florería Atlántico, in Buenos Aires, is also part of the list The World’s 50 Best Bars. The Argentine bar and restaurant has its little brother in Barcelona, a project by Tato Giovannoni, Alex Resnik and Diego Cabrera,in the Born neighborhood where they merge flavour, history and creativity. On the upper floor, the Brasero restaurant serves Argentine specialties paired with cocktails and wines with character. On the lower floor, the Florería space surprises with creations such as the Negroni Balestrini or Saint Marthe, as well as with drinks inspired by countries such as Spain, Syria and Egypt.

With spaces like this, Barcelona is without doubt one of the afterwork capitals of the world. The city transforms the frantic rhythm of the day into nights full of sophistication, where signature cocktails, good music and atmospheres with personality turn the end of the day into an unforgettable experience. Whether you are looking for an animated space or a more intimate corner, there is always an ideal place to be experienced.
