With more than sixty works, this exhibition at La Pedrera-Casa Milà offers a unique vision of the artist’s career over seven decades, from his figurative beginnings to his most recent creations. One of the most striking pieces is a monumental sculpture in the courtyard of Passeig de Gràcia, created specifically for this exhibition, which surprises from the first moment and sets the tone of a journey full of rhythm, intensity and emotion.
The exhibition explores his paintings, sculptures, drawings and photographs, where blocks of color, lines and textures convey deep emotions and create a unique connection with the viewer. Each piece is an invitation to immerse yourself in a universe of rhythm and intensity that transforms abstract painting into a visual and introspective experience.

Premiere of the documentary about Sean Scully, by David Trueba
6 May 2025 – 8 p.m. Auditorium of La Pedrera
Director David Trueba brings the figure of one of the most relevant artists of abstract painting of the second half of the 20th century to the public. After the screening, there will be a dialogue between David Trueba and Javier Molins, curator of the exhibition, moderated by the journalist Laura Sangrà.
Concert of Anastasia Kobekina at the Foyer del Liceu

For Sean Scully, music is the most abstract art and, because of its ethereal nature, the closest to the spirit. In many ways, his pictorial work breathes musicality: it has rhythm, repetitions, fugue… In this concert, his painting establishes a dialogue with a selection of musical pieces proposed by the talented cellist Anastasia Kobekina. A visual and sound show that will immerse us both in the materiality and in the spirituality of the universe of Sean Scully.
Concert of the Escolania de Montserrat, Orquestra del Miracle & Juan de la Rubia

As part of the celebrations of the Millennium of Montserrat at the Palau de la Música, this concert is presented by the Escolania de Montserrat and the Capella de Música de Montserrat together with the Orquesta del Miracle, founded two years ago in the sanctuary of the Miracle.

On the occasion of the exhibition, a guided visit will take place in Santa Ceciliade Montserrat. Sean Scully Art Space, a place where contemporary art and historical heritage dialogue in an exceptional way. The visit will end with a concert by the Barcelona Clarinet Players, with music by Bernat Vivancos inspired by the work of Sean Scully. A complete experience that merges art, heritage and music in a unique environment.
