L’elisir d’amore by Gaetano Donizetti

“L’elisir d’amore,” Gaetano Donizetti’s beloved bel canto comedy, returns to Liceu Opera Barcelona. In Mario Gas’s charming production—first seen in 1983—the Liceu Opera Orchestra is conducted by Diego Matheuz. The cast includes star soprano Pretty Yende as Adina and Mexican tenor Javier Camarena as Nemorino. Expect heartwarming charm, sparkling stage direction, and vocal brilliance in Donizetti’s tale of love, sincerity, and the comedic twist behind a “love potion” that turns out to be mere red wine.
