Concerts with panoramic views of Barcelona

The vibrant program of twenty concerts offer the stage to the most promising young talents on the current jazz scene. Every Thursday and Friday at 8pm, the rooftop of La Pedrera – Casa Milà is filled with the music of these artists trained in renowned cultural institutions. The combination of music, the outdoors and panoramic views creates a perfect synergy.

Impressive 360º views of Barcelona are an unforgettable backdrop for lovers of music and historical architecture. Arrive a little before the concert, to give yourself time to discover the architectural details of the building, visit the exhibitions included in the entrance fee,  and wander around the undulating Gaudinian terrace before the concert. Start the party.
La Pedrera – Casa Milà is one of Gaudí’s first buildings to host nighttime activities on the roof. This UNESCO heritage building, a World Heritage Cultural Asset and Historical-Artistic Monument of National Interest, also organises other interesting events such as La Pedrera Night Experience, which includes video mapping on the roof.

Talents Jazz’s invited artists

The concert series has an eclectic repertoire of the best jazz and contemporary music in Spain. Be captivated by the creativity of young performers and composers, paying tribute to jazz legends such as Stan Getz, Tom Jobim or Chris Cheek. Others prefer to remember forgotten performers of the 20th century, especially women who, like Betty Comden and Carolyn Leigh, left their mark on the sound of jazz.

Other musicians prefer to explore the fusion of different styles, such as electronic, flamenco, R&B or neo soul, among others. Yet more decide to experiment with rock notes and jazz modulations, creating the most cinematic atmospheres. Perhaps surprisingly more of the participating musicians are betting on electronic sounds, reflecting the growth of this musical genre.
For already recognized artists,Talents Jazz is an opportunity to present work from their new albums. In recent editions, names like Isaac Romagosa or Arnau Torné have played some of their music publicly for the first time, often before an official launch elsewhere. Attend these concerts and discover the new sounds that will set trends on the contemporary music scene.

Much more than music: The visit to La Pedrera

Talents Jazz not only immerses you in the magic of music, but also invites you to explore La Pedrera – Casa Milà. Before entering, admire the façade, a masterpiece built with limestone blocks from Garraf and the Vilafranca quarry. The undulating shapes evoke the movement of the sea, while the twisted iron railings resemble the shapes of seaweed.

As you enter, the Patio de las Flores will captivate you with its floral mural paintings and a spectacular staircase that takes you to the main floor. In the attic of La Pedrera, known as the Whale Attic  the ‘Gaudí’ exhibition is located in the place that previously housed the laundry rooms. Divided into seven areas, it shows the natural inspirations and the genius of the architect through models, plans, objects and designs.
On the roof of the building, you will be welcomed by chimneys that look like warrior guardians. The impressive views of Barcelona both day and night are there to be  enjoyed during the concerts. To complete the experience, upon arrival you will be presented with a glass of cava to toast the start of the concert. A perfect plan to make the most of summer nights in the city.
