This is a walk for music lovers, for those who want to discover the musical past of the city. This musical walk, conducted by a professional guide, takes you to churches where, in the times of the guilds, musicians gathered to provide the ambience for all kinds of events. The tour continues to the Teatro Principal, the oldest theatre in Barcelona, that was built to pay the expenses of the Santa Creu hospital, and to the Liceu, a great rival of the main theatre at that time. The history of Teatro Principal goes back to 1597, it had a monopoly until 1833 which ended with the construction of new competing theatres, such as the Gran Teatre del Liceu. The walk continues towards the old town where the guide will show and explain anecdotes and curiosities related to music such as where Chopin stayed and Montserrat Cavaller worked. The walk ends at the house of the “Orfeó catalá”, a choral society founded in 1891 which commissioned The Palau de la Música Catalana, a major Barcelona landmark.
