Almost 30 years have passed since the unforgettable voice of Cecilia Bartoli is heard at the Gran Teatre del Liceu, however, we won’t quite reach 30 year’s absence as on October 29 the diva returns to the theater so that his audience can once again enjoy the acrobatics, depth, intensity and subtlety and nuance of her great voice.
For this very special evening, the soprano will be accompanied by Les Musiciens du Prince, a group playing period instruments that she herself formed in 2016, and of which she is the artistic director.
Bartoli will interpret a program around the figure of Carlo Broschi, better known as Farinelli, the highly acclaimed artist was castrated as a child using a horse accident as an excuse. This event accompanied his international successes, for 9 years he worked in the court of Felipe V of Spain, the legend tells that his voice was the only way to alleviate the monarch’s illness.
With this character at the centre and Cecilia Bartoli as the protagonist on stage, the recital becomes an unmissable event for the audience of the Gran Teatre del Liceu.
