As part of the celebration of the 175th anniversary of the Gran Teatre del Liceu, the theater has inaugurated the doors of its main entrance, a work by the artist Jaume Plensa. An artistic piece of great aesthetic value that in turn forms a new element for the Rambla’s heritage and a new attraction for the city of Barcelona.
The work, entitled Constelaciones, is a set of doors made from the fusion of stainless steel letters and characters from nine different alphabets, a metaphor for the diversity of the world, and also an invitation to enter to enjoy the universal language of music.
The work enters into dialogue with the Pla de l’Os Mosaic, by Joan Miró located just a few meters from the Rambla theatre. In this way, a symbolic and physical union of two internationally recognized Catalan artists is established.
Constel·lacions is made up of three fretwork screens placed in the three arcs of the main entrance of the Teatre.
