With this concert begins a fascinating journey that will take the Gran Teatre del Liceu to the conquest of an authentic musical achievement: the complete symphonies of Gustav Mahler. The third Symphony, is one of the composer’s most optimistic and extroverted works. It is the most extensive of them all, and needs a large number of musicians to perform. With this work, Mahler offers us one of his most complete musical statements on his view of the world. A symphony conceived as a transition from the light of day to the darkness of night. The reflection of the shadows of a forest bursting with life. A creation that unfolds between refinement, filigree and the weight of orchestral emphases.
